Weidmüller has implemented a particularly compact design for its new marshalling and power distribution terminals PRV and PPV for power station plant and process engineering applications. The PRV family of products consists of 4-, 8- and the innovative 16-tier marshalling and distribution terminals; the PPV family comprises the 4- and 8-tier power distributors. Distributing more than 1700 signals per meter the 16-way PRV multi-tier with "PUSH IN " connection technology is again setting new standards - at the present time it is an absolutely unique solution. "PUSH IN" connection technology guarantees touch safety against inadvertent short circuiting. The "PUSH IN" double connection guarantees simple power distribution, and serves equally as a separate testing point. "PUSH IN" allows users to simply insert the prepared conductor into the terminal point to quickly create a reliable, jolt-proof, gas-tight connection. Moreover, this connection technology ensures vibration-proof and effective conductor retention forces. And in comparison with other connection technologies it achieves a higher wiring density combined with best-possible handling characteristics. Clearly identifiable matrix markings and colour-coded operating elements help to ensure optimum orientation when extending the system or carrying out maintenance work by facilitating unambiguous terminal arrangement and, as a consequence, error-free signal assignments. The V-shaped busbar of the PRV and PPV marshalling and power distribution terminals is a unique solution. This design feature compensates for different material expansion rates between the plastic terminal carrier and the copper feature. Even in the face of temperature fluctuations or varying climatic conditions it always guarantees stable and low contact resistances.

Weidmüller's marshalling and power distribution terminal blocks PRV and PPV equipped with PUSH IN connectivity. –Innovative, benchmark setting 16-way PRV multi-tier terminals distribute more than 1700 signals per meter. – Designed to marshal and distribute signals in power station plant and process engineering applications. – Touch safe thanks to PUSH IN connection technology.
Ever more complex demands being placed on automation processes and increasing requirements on monitoring and production data acquisition are resulting in control systems with continuously increasing numbers of measuring instruments in the field. All of this is giving planning engineers new challenges to meet: additional signals to fulfil automation requirements need to be connected and processed on the one hand, whilst additional space requirements generally mean increased costs on the other. To meet these challenges Weidmüller's has responded by introducing its new marshalling and power distribution terminals PRV and PPV equipped with "PUSH IN" connection technology. Both product families support efficient wiring concepts in process industry environments and have been specifically optimized for deployment in marshalling and distribution cabinets: PRV and PPV terminals facilitate simple, precise marshalling and distribution of electrical signals in combination with minimised real estate requirements. The PRV family of products consists of 4-, 8- and the innovative 16-tier marshalling and distribution terminals; the PPV family comprises the 4- and 8-tier power distributors.

Process control systems are deployed in applications in process engineering and power generation systems. Despite the availability of alternative technologies such as remote I/Os and field bus solutions – incoming and outgoing signal connections are often connected via terminal blocks housed in marshalling and distribution cabinets. The following advantages offer arguments in favour of making use of terminal blocks: They are robust, their connection technology is uncomplicated, and they facilitate building practical and clearly arranged electrical systems.

Weidmüller's PRV and PPV marshalling and power distribution terminals are particularly compact by design. The 16-way multi-tier PRV terminal block equipped with "PUSH IN" connection technology (64 connections per terminal) is presently a worldwide novelty. It can even distribute more than 1700 signals per meter – and Weidmüller has clearly just raised the bar.

PRV and PPV marshalling and power distribution terminal blocks are equipped with "PUSH IN" connection technology, because "wire-wrap" and "TERMI-POINT" connections presently do not provide touch protection against inadvertent short circuiting. The "PUSH IN" double connection guarantees simple power distribution and serves as a separate testing point. "PUSH IN" allows users to quickly create a reliable, jolt-proof, gas-tight connection. All the user has to do is simply insert the prepared conductor into the terminal point. Moreover, this connection technology offers high conductor retention forces and ensures vibration-proof connections. Furthermore, in comparison with other connection technologies "PUSH IN" achieves a high wiring density in combination with best-possible handling characteristics.

Clearly identifiable matrix markings as well as red and white colour-coded operating elements facilitate optimum orientation when extending the system or carrying out maintenance work. This facilitates unambiguous arrangement of the distributor terminals and, as a consequence, error-free signal assignments.

A unique design feature of the PRV and PPV marshalling and power distribution terminals is the V-shaped busbar. Guaranteeing constantly stable and low contact resistances the V-shaped design compensates for different material expansion rates across the plastic terminal carrier and the copper busbar - even when subjected to temperature fluctuations and widely varying climatic conditions. A snap-on foot fixture prevents the terminal being subjected to too much strain when being mounted, and also guarantees the terminal is securely seated on the mounting rail.
