M8/M12 distribution solutions from PROVERTHA for simplified and cost-saving cabling solutions in industry and railway technology

Provertha has developed a compact, fully shielded distribution system for M8/M12 cabling, with which multiple cables can be combined using circular connectors so that signal and power transmission can now be realised over long distances via a single cable. This simplifies the connection of the equipment to the cable networks and helps to save costs.

Efficient solution to simplify installation with high reliability
The M8/M12 distribution solution is a flexibly adaptable plug-and-play system that can be used to optimise the cabling very specifically depending on the application. As with a modular system, the system is based on standard components for pluggable M8-, M12 or direct cable connection. This is why Provertha can respond quickly and easily to individual customer requests and implement specific M8/M12 distributor boxes to simplify installation in the applications.

Both in industry and in railway technology, the distributor boxes are predestined for demanding customer-specific solutions with very high requirements in harsh environments. The solid full-metal housing ensures shock-, vibration- and torsion-proof connection and integration of the connector cables into the distribution solution. In addition, Provertha can realise protection class IP 67 through optional potting.

Structured cabling – compact, simple and fast
When cabling in trains or installing machinery and equipment, engineers are often faced with the question of whether it is not possible to combine multiple cables over longer distances into a single cable and only split them into individual cables again at the destination. The advantages are obvious. In this way, the installation can be organised in a more structured, simpler and clearer way. Valuable space is also saved in the control cabinet and in the cable ducts.

Thanks to the new Provertha distribution solution, combining cables with M8 and M12 circular connectors is no longer a problem. In industrial automation, for example, three M8 connections can be combined in one M12 cable. This means that actuator and sensor connections can be bundled quickly and easily. Another interesting function is the use of a connection for an additional separate voltage feed, which can be used for switchable actuators, for example.

When wiring up Ethernet-Switches in railway technology, for instance, the distribution solution allows two D-coded cables to be combined into an X-coded cable, then routed over a longer distance in the carriage. For connecting to the switch it will be distributed in two D-coded cables again. This is advantageous when in the carriages are existing many end-connections and there is too less space in the cable ducts.

Customised solutions thanks to variable connection options
In both industrial automation and railway technology, very long connection distances can now be realised with one cable instead of several, thanks to the Provertha distribution solutions. There are many possible combinations. The housing offers a maximum of six different connection options, whereby a mixed configuration with M8 and M12 connectors or cables is also possible.

In contrast to conventional I/O distributor boxes (splitters), the plug connections on the distributor box (splitter) can also be equipped with a rotatable lock. This means that, for example, sensors with a cable end or those with a fixed thread can also be connected directly to the distributor box. The Provertha crimp flange/crimp sleeve system ensures excellent protection against shock, vibration and torsion when connecting cables with diameters from 4 to 14 mm.
