Bunting at Ecomondo

With the Ecomondo Green Technology Expo encompassing the circular economy, the Bunting stand (hall A2 stand 007) focuses on material recycling through material and metal separation to neodymium magnet recovery.

Bunting is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of magnetic separators for the recycling and waste industries. The group also provides magnet and magnetic solutions and is a member of the SUSMAGPRO (Sustainable Recovery, Reprocessing, and Reuse of Rare Earth Magnets) European Union funded project. The Bunting European manufacturing facilities are in Redditch, just outside Birmingham, and Berkhamsted, both in the United Kingdom.

Ecomondo, the green technology expo, runs from the 26th to 29th October 2021 in the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy. The expo has evolved to cover all sectors of the circular economy from the recovery of materials and energy to sustainable development.

Magnets play a vital role in environmental technology such as wind turbines and electric vehicles. The same neodymium magnets enable the recovery or removal of metals from secondary materials to enable recycling. The Bunting team at Ecomondo, including Stefano Maiaroli, Bunting’s Sales Area Manager for South Europe, will provide technical advice on maximising magnetic performance.

Successful material recycling requires optimised metal recovery or removal. Bunting’s unique range of magnetic separators, eddy current separators and electrostatic separators separate both large and fine ferrous and non-ferrous metals. With an extensive range of separators, Bunting provides a complete metal separation solution.

The patented Stainless Steel Separator uses ultra-high-strength magnetic forces to separate weakly magnetic fragmented stainless steel, whilst the recently launched ElectroStatic Separator recovers metals such as fine copper wire. Such unique metal separators work alongside widely used Eddy Current Separators, Overband Magnets, and Drum Magnets. At Ecomondo, Bunting’s experienced team will work with recyclers to advise on the optimum methods of recovering metal and removing metallic contamination from secondary materials.

This includes showing the size and weight of tramp iron separated by the ElectroMax Overband Magnet. Despite being compact and lightweight, the ElectroMax remains exceptionally powerful, separating large and potentially damaging tramp metal.

“We [Bunting] are involved in many aspects of green technology and Ecomondo provides us with the ideal opportunity to meet industry experts from across Europe,” said Simon Ayling, Bunting’s European Managing Director.
