EN ISO 7010 is the new European Norm for safety signs that is expected to be endorsed by all EU-member states in 2013. Brady Corporation, the global leader in complete solutions to identify and protect premises, products, and people, now offers a full range of material, coating, and inks dedicated to producing ISO 7010 signs that stay visible even in the harshest of environments.

The ISO 7010 Norm, includes new safety signs that cover all hazardous situations and substances that professionals and the public might encounter. The purpose of the new ISO 7010 norm is to introduce a global safety language comprised of a range of pictograms, signage shapes, and colours that promote instant recognition across countries and cultures. Signs concerning accident prevention, fire protection, health hazard information and emergency evacuation have been reviewed and adapted.

“At Brady Corporation, we want to add what we can to the underlying goal of increased safety in the new ISO norm”, says Dominique Roosen, European Product Compliance Manager at Brady Corporation. “In our laboratories and during in-the-field-testing, we make sure our safety signs stay visible, even in harsh industrial environments. Brady develops materials, coatings and ink that will stand against all chemicals and solvents, extreme temperatures, or prolonged UV-exposure. Our new range of safety signs ensures that when you invest in increased safety, your warning signs stay up and stay visible to fully support you in preventing accidents from happening.¨

To create ISO 7010 safety signs, a full product-line of sign and label printers, such as the PowerMark, GlobalMark and BBP31, along with Markware software are offered by Brady. In addition, a full range of ready-made signs that meet the ISO 7010 Norm are also available.

Countries who have already accepted ISO 7010 as a national norm include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Norway and Switzerland, both non-EU countries, also endorsed it. CEN/Cenelec, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation, approved ISO 7010 as the new norm, meaning national standards organisations of CEN/Cenelec’s members are bound to implement the standard. These countries, in addition to the countries that have already adopted ISO 7010, include Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Turkey.
