Siemens to Feature Variety of Solutions for Grid Edge at DistribuTECH 2020

Siemens will highlight a variety of digitalization and distributed energy resource solutions during the DistribuTECH 2020 Conference and Exposition from January 28 – 30, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, both in its booth (2408, Hall H) and in several Knowledge Hub educational sessions.

Siemens to Feature Variety of Solutions for Grid Edge at DistribuTECH 2020

Knowledge Hub topics will cover cities’/utilities’ electric vehicle readiness planning, wildfire mitigation solutions, microgrid project lessons learned, data analytics for underground distribution networks, and incorporating electromagnetic pulse mitigation technology into a digital substation. All the presentations will be illustrated through real-world case studies and application.

Subject matter experts will cover these topics at a more in-depth product level in Siemens’ booth 2408 during scheduled in-booth theater presentations. A detailed schedule will be posted at the reception desk in the booth.

“DistribuTECH provides a great forum where industry experts can come together and learn about new technical solutions and approaches during the Knowledge Hub sessions,” says Ruth Gratzke, Senior Vice President at Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. “Siemens experts will be available to discuss and provide feedback on technical challenges while tying them back to specific technology and real-world solutions at our in-booth theater presentations.”

The Siemens’ booth will showcase products in four focus areas: Internet of Energy, Smart Distribution, Digital Substation, and Grid Simulation, with select product models, touchscreens, and live demonstrations. Key technologies in each section include:

  • Internet of Energy: MindSphere Application Center; EnergyIP meter data management and distributed energy management systems; and SCADA with Spectrum Power™ 7 system. In addition, Omnetric and Siemens IoT Services will also display various solutions, focusing on data discovery driven utility asset insights, underground electric network monitoring, and AMI operations and insights.
  • Smart Distribution: Siemens Distribution Feeder Automation; microgrid management system; medium-voltage solutions that include the Compact Modular Recloser (CMR) and Fusesaver™ circuit breaker; and surge arresters and bushings. The medium-voltage technology solutions provide industry leading capabilities for wildfire mitigation requirements.
  • Digital Substation: SIPROTEC® protective relay digital twin; electromagnetic pulse (EMP) mitigation technology; digital distribution substation capabilities (compact substation, merging units); SICAM FSI fault sensor indication; and SICAM A8000 automation and remote terminal units. Ruggedcom will also display its APE1808 line module; Sinec network management system, RMM2972-2RNA PRP/HSR module, and CBRS band.
  • Grid Simulation: PSS®SINCAL distribution planning software with energy storage application, and Bentley Systems integration for automated interconnection studies.
