The French Railway Track Expertise

Involved in most of the biggest projects around the world, such as the East European high speed line - the first interoperable high speed line in Europe - as well as High Speed One in England and the Cairo Metro, the Infrastructure Group of the French Federation of Railway Industries, achieved a turnover of €1700m in 2009, 40% came from exports. It employs more than 7000 people, 2700 of whom are based outside France. Its activities were featured at the Innotrans 2010 trade fair in Berlin.

The French Railway Track Expertise
The Group’s success is the result of decades of experience acquired on some of the world's largest networks, backed up by massive investment in research and development, which has led to many innovations, the aim of which is to reduce Life Cycle Costs for infrastructures, increasing their availability. These innovations include: heat treated rails, bainitic rails and "Silent track” noise dampers from Tata Steel, Fastclip fasteners and the Vanguard system from Railtech International, the ballastless tunnel track system and wear reduction flanges from Sateba, the Easyswitch-R integrated actuator and SURVAIG-NG predictive maintenance software from Vossloh Cogifer, the BOA rail replacement and neutralisation train from TSO.

Group members are able to supply the full range of track components, and to carry out the laying and maintenance of track for high speed, heavy freight, mixed traffic (freight and passenger) and urban transport lines.

The Group includes ALR (profiles for fishplates), FLB (steel angles), Matisa (track construction and maintenance machinery), Railtech International (welding, flexible rail fixings, track electrification), Sateba and Stradal (concrete sleepers), Tata Steel (rails, metal sleepers, noise reduction, modular platforms and catenary pylons), TenCate Geosynthetics (geosynthetics) and Vossloh Cogifer (points and crossings and signalling systems), plus Colas Rail, Européenne de Travaux Ferroviaires, Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires and TSO, who work in track construction and maintenance.
