Alpha Networks Launches 1.6T Liquid-Cooled Switch Powered by Broadcom TH6 Chip

Alpha Networks Inc. (3380), the leading supplier of network communication solutions, announced today (9/22) the launch of its newly developed 1.6T liquid-cooled switch equipped with the Broadcom Tomahawk 6 chip to deliver up to 102.4 Tbps of switching capacity. Designed for AI/cloud data center and high-performance computing (HPC) applications, the product will not only satisfy the high-speed connectivity requirements of generative AI, large-scale multimedia streaming, and Internet-of-Things, but also achieve a balance between energy efficiency and environmental sustainability through the use of a highly effective liquid-cooling system.

Product Features
Fastest chip in the world:
The Broadcom Tomahawk 6 chip set a world record for switching capacity from a single chip with 102.4 Tbps, double the bandwidth provided by existing Ethernet switches. Throughput is 6 times higher than the previous generation of products and supports the collaborative operation of up to 100,000 GPUs, the equivalent of processing 25,000 4K-quality movies every second.

High-performance liquid-cooling: Each liquid-cooling can remove over 1.8 KW of heat, offering a more compact, more efficient, and quieter solution than legacy air-cooled solutions for a green computing environment.

Data center optimization: The product conforms with the EIA/ORv3 standard water-cooled rack design with leak detection and automatic shutdown to ensure safety and operational stability.

Flexible architecture:
The 64-port 1.6T OSFP interface supports DAC/ACC high-speed cables and long-distance ZR+ optical modules; the modular DC/DC power supply design enhances the flexibility of the supply chain; BMC remote management and 1588/PTP precision synchronization are also supported.

The rapid growth in generative AI and cloud applications is driving data center demand for higher bandwidths, lower latencies, and high energy efficiency. Legacy air-cooling solutions have reached a bottleneck in performance as high-end chips enter the kilowatt range: The need for larger and heavier cooling fins means higher costs and rack footprints as well as greater energy consumption and noise from fans, making high-kilowatt products difficult to integrate into data centers.

In response, the 1.6T switch developed by Alpha Networks adopted a liquid-cooled solution that delivers more than 1.8 KW of cooling on each liquid-cooled board. The smaller footprint and higher efficiency compared to legacy air-cooling lowers the burden on footprint planning and energy consumption in data centers. The fully liquid-cooled design with modular PSU conforms to the next-generation ORv3 800V standard. The entire circulation circuit is equipped with leak detection to shut down the liquid-cooling system immediately if there are any leaks and to buy more servicing time for technicians.

To meet the even more demanding cooling challenges of tomorrow, Alpha Networks’ 1.6T liquid-cooled switch will not only help customers deploy infrastructure with even higher performance but also effectively reduce their energy consumption and noise. As such, the new switch offers the most reliable solution for the deployment of AI data centers and next-generation networks.
